The "Glorious Fourth of July" will be celebrated in Demorest on Thursday, July 4, 2013. This old fashioned celebration of the nations' independence has been a tradition in Demorest since 1890.
Festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Arts & Crafts booths opening. There will be a parade at 11:00 a.m.; opening ceremonies will take place at intersection of 441 and Georgia Street.
Arts and Crafts booths will located on Georgia Street. And various foods- funnel cakes, chicken dinners, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, homemade lemonade, sno-cones, popcorn, will be available on Georgia Street.
A horseshoe tournament will begin at 12:00 p.m., in the lower end of the park.
Numerous games for the kids including bounce-swing, giant-slide, whale ride, pony rides and much more will be in the park.
Immediately following the parade, there will be Northeast Georgia's own Melvin Banks
The Cakewalk will begin at 6:00. Local ladies and "men" in town donate cakes.
Varied entertainment, emceed by Melvin Banks, will take place during the day. "Still Cruzin" will be entertaining during the evening from 7:30 till past fireworks show with a range of oldies, pop and rock music.
At 9:30 p.m. a FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA sponsored by :United Community Bank & Trust ", will take place.
