Habersham Chamber Business Advocacy Activities

One voice does not get a lot of attention. However, 1,000 voices strong gets the attention of elected officials and the community. When the Chamber advocates for business-friendly legislation, taxes and other issues, that is what Chamber members get. The Chamber does not lobby. Instead we advocate for issues that positively affect economic development, small and large businesses, and the quality of life in Habersham County.

The Habersham County Chamber of Commerce supports policies and initiatives that enhance our community, our businesses and our students.

Advocacy is a major benefit of Chamber membership. Members have a voice in what the Chamber as a whole advocates for, and the Chamber represents its members through a member-elected board.

The Chamber also provides events and sessions for members to interact one on one with elected officials. Examples include a pre-legislative forum with elected officials prior to the General Assembly starting in January, a trip to the State Capitol in Atlanta during the session where all members are invited, post-legislative events for first-hand updates and more. Prior to primaries and major elections, the Chamber co-sponsors a political forum.

SPLOST: The Habersham County Chamber of Commerce supports the renewal of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), a 1 percent sales tax for capital projects that improve the quality of life of our citizens and strengthen the economy for all.
